Sometimes wandering the world, jobless and hungry, and other times specifically focused on becoming an adventurer, excited and full of potential, the Novice is the starting point for all Human characters in Ragnarok Online. Taking a boat to Izlude to learn about Jobs they can become or as a stop-over on their way to Prontera to sign up for adventure, the Novice has endless possibilities ahead of them!
Let's just hope that incoming storm during their voyage is nothing...
When you create a new Human character, you will always begin as a Novice. Your Stats will all start at 1 but you may choose from different Hairstyles and Hair colors. While limited in what they can do to start, Novices do not incur any EXP penalty upon death and regain 50% HP when respawning.
Once Job Level 10, Novices can change into one of the following Primary First Classes:
Alternatively, they can choose to become one of the Expanded Classes:
- Super Novice (also requires Base Level 45)
- TaeKwon Kid
- Ninja
- Gunslinger

Criatura Academy Training

After emerging from the shipwreck, getting your bearings, and getting transport to Izlude proper, you will be able to truly start your adventure!
To learn about how to play the game, what Classes you can become, or get some free newbie-friendly gear, head to the Royal Criatura Academy in the north part of town. Not only will the quests offered there help you get to Job Level 10, there is much to learn and gear to obtain by going through this training area.
It is also recommended to take the various Newbie Quests throughout Izlude and in the Training Academy for the same reason. Note that you can save some of these for free and easy EXP on your new First Job chosen. An NPC with this marker will give you quests to complete for EXP or free items:
Once you have changed into your First Job, make sure to at least speak with Sprakki 
at the front desk of the Academy to trigger a necessary quest to be able to Rebirth into your Transcendent Class properly. You can do this at anytime, but it is recommended to do it now while you are still in town.
- Expanded First Class Jobs and Dorams will not need to do this.
After that, an NPC named Lime Evenor will show up who registers you to the Eden Group, provides you some new equipment, and gives you the 
Eden Group Mark that can automatically teleport you to Eden when used.
- Dorams, or those who do not go this route, will still be able to register by by finding Lime Evenor
inside Eden, accessible by any Eden Teleport Officer found in every major city, usually nearby the central Kafra Agent.
At this point, you are now free to start your own adventure in Ragnarok Online!
Pre-Super Novice Build
edit- This section is only for those pursuing the Super Novice Job, as leveling a Novice to any other First Job only takes minutes.
- Be sure to read up on the Class you wish to play and build your Stats towards that.
Play Dead & Auto-Attack
edita. GAMEPLAY:
This build focuses on fighting monsters one at a time using with quick auto-attacks since a Novice has no combat skills to utilize. The one skill you do have, Play Dead, can be used if you accidentally target a monster too strong for you, or enter a map of aggressive monsters, to allow time for them to pass by your fake corpse. Ideal targets to kill for this build are passive monsters, such as Willow or Bigfoot, so you do not get mobbed while finishing them off with your increasing ASPD. This type of build isn't usually recommended for the long term, but is very affordable for new players early on.
- Alternative gameplay: Due to lack of AOE skills for this class, it it recommended to get any slotted Accessory carded with a
Marine Sphere Card to use Magnum Break on mobs of monsters to level. However, this will not be an option for a brand new player obviously.
b. STATS:
You may allocate certain status points depending on the monster you are killing, your survivability, skill playing the game, and planned character build later on. The main focus is STR for ATK and AGI for ASPD & FLEE, but feel free to add more DEX to give you HIT as needed.
- Don't forget that if you want to go with a different build as Super Novice that doesn't align with these stats (such as a magic build), you can get a free Stat Reset at the Beginner Stat & Skill Reset Hypnotist before you change.
Base level 40 base status distribution suggestion:
