Archers are masters of increasing their focus and concentration to hunt monsters while wielding a bow and arrow. Though they prefer sniping monsters from a safe distance, in close combat they can easily loose several arrows in quick succession to ensure their target never even reaches them. Archers have a closeness with nature and their understanding of local flora and fauna, learned within the lush forests of Payon, encourages them to further enhance their knowledge about the animals that may become their companions someday.
Archers are known for their high Ranged Physical Damage and HIT using Bows. Archers rely on high DEX to deal damage to monsters with high accuracy and they can either aim for high AGI for ASPD to snipe monsters quickly or high VIT to boost survivability as they decimate monsters with a shower of arrows. LUK may also be viable for those aiming to become a Falcon-oriented Hunter or a critical hit Sniper after changing jobs.
Archers excel in using a bow and various kinds of arrows, including those imbued with different elements (like Fire, Wind, or Holy) that deal even more damage to monsters based on their element's weakness. Regular and Elemental Arrow Quivers can be bought from the Quivering Merchant on the 2nd floor of the Eden Group.
Job Changing
editOnce you are a Job Level 10 Novice, you have 2 methods of changing into an Archer:
- Go to the Archer Guild in northeast Payon and talk to the Archer Guildsman who is standing behind the desk. They will change your job to Archer and reward you with a
Novice Composite Bow [3], and 1 Normal, Fire, and Silver Arrow Quiver each.
- Pursuing this method also unlocks both Arrow Repel and Arrow Crafting Skills for free right as you change.
- Alternatively, go to the Archer Classroom on the 2nd Floor of Criatura Academy and speak to the NPC named Archer Teacher located at . He will warn you that you will not receive the bonus Job Skills listed above if you use this method and thus it is not recommended.
Builds
editI. Arrow Shower
edita. GAMEPLAY:
This build takes advantage of the archer's ability to kill groups of monsters from afar using Arrow Shower. It also takes advantage of using specific elemental arrows to kill monsters weak to a specific element, allowing you to more damage than other 1st Jobs more easily and safely.
b. STATS:
You may allocate certain status points depending on your preference but the idea is to focus on increasing DEX to increase your ATK & HIT and VIT to increase survivability. Some stat points can be put in INT for a larger SP pool as well.
Base Level 40 base stat distribution suggestion:
- STR: 1
- AGI: 1
- VIT: 20
- INT: 20
- DEX: 52
- LUK: 1
II. Double Strafe & Auto-Attack
edita. GAMEPLAY:
This build focuses on killing monsters quickly, one at a time, using 1-2 hits of Double Strafe or finishing them off with auto-attack to conserve SP. Ideal monsters to kill for this build are passive monsters such as Willow or Bigfoot so you do not get mobbed. As with all builds, this one takes advantage of using specific elemental arrows to kill monsters weak to a specific element, allowing you to more damage than other 1st Jobs more easily and safely.
b. STATS:
You may allocate certain status points depending on your preference but the idea is to focus on increasing DEX to increase your ATK & HIT and AGI to increase ASPD & FLEE. Some stat points can put in INT for higher SP pool if needed.
Base Level 40 base stat distribution suggestion:
- STR: 1
- AGI: 30
- VIT: 1
- INT: 1
- DEX: 53
- LUK: 1
Tips & Tactics
editGeneral Leveling Strategy
editBelow are three suggestions to efficiently level a new character:
- First, get gear and experience for your new character by following this Izlude tutorial guide from the forums (this guide is also listed down below in the Archer equipment section with additional details). Note that you do not need to complete all of these quests, and simply joining the Academy and getting some gear may be all that you need to start. Using the Job Classrooms on the 2nd Floor to more easily reach your Job Change NPC is helpful as well.
- Using
Catherina Von Blood [1], you can level as soon as base level 3-56 in Sunken Ship. Talk to Fisk and pay 250z to go to the . As an archer, you will be using Arrow Shower. - Without using
Catherina Von Blood [1], using the Geffen Bounty Board Quests kill Roda Frogs until level 21(they drop sticky webfeet that you can sell to players or turn in for the level 56-71 Eden Group Leveling Quests) , then using the Payon Bounty Board Quests kill Bigfoots until level 41. Then, using the Eden Group Leveling Quests and Geffen Bounty Board Quests, kill Orc Warriors, Orc Ladies, and Orc Babies until level 60.
You can accept multiple quests at one time, however when turning in do note that you cannot gain more than 1 full level from a single quest, so do try to turn the quests in when you have a low exp percentage or after you've job changed if you're job level 49.
Arrows, Quivers, and Hotkeys
editPlacing both your Arrows and Quivers on the hotkey bar will allow players to monitor how many Arrows they have left, open new Quivers with a single key-press, and equip Arrows if you accidentally run out. This can be a life saver in emergency situations.
Affordable HP Recovery
editWhen mobbing or tanking groups of monsters, especially for AOE leveling, Healing Items WILL need to be consumed and often even spammed.
Two popular and cheap healing items are Nepeta Cataria and Fresh Fish due to their cheap cost and low weight:
Nepeta Cataria can be purchased from Cat Paw Shrimp Merchant in Izlude or Prontera (or in Lasagna if starting as a Doram) for only 15z each (11z with max Discount).
Fresh Fish can be purchased from Cooking Merchant in Payon or Chef's Assistant at the docks of Alberta, as well as other cities, for only 250z each (190z with max Discount).
For a list of Healing Items, a comparison, and a list of a couple popular Healing Items, please see the main article: Healing Items.
Card Sets
editThe Archer Card Set is a decent boost for early leveling, even possibly viable until 99. When this set is assembled, the following effects are bestowed alongside the bonuses each individual card offers:
- AGI +5.
- DEX +3.
- Increases ranged damage by 20%.
- Perfect Hit +20
- If used by an Archer job type
- Adds a 1% chance of inflicting Coma on Brute race targets when doing a physical attack
- Increases the experience given from Brute race monsters by 5%.
Other Suggestions
edit- Your next class is either a Hunter or a Bard/Dancer; you may have to adjust your build accordingly.
- Use Eden Group Leveling Quests and Bounty Board Quests to find monsters to kill around your level.
- Use Stat Reset to reset your stats as needed to maximize your damage.
- Use Skill Reset to reset your skills as needed to maximize your damage.
- Use Elemental Converters to increase your damage by changing your weapons element that is strong against the monster's element.
- Use ASPD Potions to greatly increase your killing speed at lower levels.
- Elemental Arrow Quivers can be bought from the Quivering Merchant in Eden 2F (second floor of the Eden Building) at .
- Use the Archer/Mage/Ninja Sniping Maps in Leveling Spots to kill monsters from far away
- Useful recovery items for HP/SP (if using heavier items like Meat/Honey, it is advised to RODEX separate amounts to yourself in smaller portions to keep within your weight limit):
- Useful DEX or ATK cards:
- Useful long-ranged damage increase card:
- Useful HP cards:
- Useful Utility cards:
- May use any of the following gear at lower levels based on your budget:

Equipment
editI. Enchanter Mounds Quest
editAfter creating a Novice character, follow the section of this Izlude tutorial guide titled "Enchanter Mounds Quest" which involves NPC Enchanter Mounds in Izlude at . This quest will allow you to enchant the
Cotton Shirt that you get the moment you created your Novice character with the enchantments Max HP+100 and Max SP+50, provided that you complete the step that requires you to speak with NPC Enchanter Almond J in Izlude at . This cotton shirt proves itself useful once you change your class and can no longer equip most of the novice gear provided to you when you register at the academy. It is recommended to card this cotton shirt with cards that increase HP and/or SP such as
Decorated Evil Tree Card or
Pupa Card.
After providing Enchanter Mounds in Izlude at with a review of the service they provided during the enchanting quest, you can talk to Enchanter Almond J in Izlude at to enchant the novice weapon you receive after you change your class from Novice to Archer. The two enchantments provided are random and if you aren’t happy with the result you can enchant it again endlessly. You will likely use this enchanted weapon until you can do the level 26 Eden group equipment quest which is the first part of that questline which rewards a weapon. Keep in mind Enchanter Almond J won’t enchant the Novice Main Gauche that you get for registering at the academy despite it being a novice weapon.
II. Eden Group Equipments Quests
editStarting at level 12 you can complete the Eden Group Equipments Quests to obtain free equipment for your class. This equipment is sufficient to get you to level 99.
